* Take Exit 48A, Laurens Road (Highway 276 East) and head towards Mauldin.

* At the first light, turn right onto Ridge Road.

The school’s textbook supplier is Varsity Books, the leading provider of online bookstore services for the private K-12 market. Books may be ordered via Varsity Books or you may choose to order through other online book vendors. Using the list of required 2008-2009 textbooks, students are reminded to order by ISBN numbers as this will best ensure the correct editions.

The school’s required Summer Reading list may also be found here. Summer Reading books may be purchased through Varsity Books beginning June 15, 2008 or through other book vendors.

Middle school students will order textbooks by grade level. High school students will order textbooks based upon their class schedule. These schedules will be mailed home by July 15, 2008. Textbooks for both middle and high school students can be purchased from Varsity Books beginning July 15, 2008.

To receive a diploma from St. Joseph’s Catholic School, a student entering as a high school freshman must:

* Successfully complete twenty-five and ½ (25.5) course credits.
* Complete 65 hours of Community Service.
* Take the SAT or ACT.

2. Community Service Requirements for Graduation

St. Joseph’s Catholic School is an institution that depends on the community and in turn wishes to serve the community. As such, St. Joseph’s requires its high school students to complete a specified number of community service hours each year. A total of sixty-five hours are required for graduation. Community service must be completed within the current school year or the previous summer and may not be carried over from year to year. Many community service opportunities benefiting the school community and the greater Greenville community will be announced throughout the year.

Students are expected to communicate with the Registrar both to receive pre-approval on what qualifies as a community service and to likewise report completed service hours. A complete listing of each student’s service hours will be posted on a regular basis.

At the end of each year a notice will be given to those students who have not completed their community service requirement. A student’s final report card will be withheld if the community service hour requirement is not completed.

To ensure accurate record keeping, students are responsible for completing a community service form and having it signed by the adult supervisor and returning the form to the Registrar. Unsigned forms will not be accepted. Forms are available on the bulletin boards in the Commons or posted outside of Room 104.

Completed community service hours required for graduation are as follows:
Freshmen 10 hours per year
Sophomores 15 hours per year
Juniors 20 hours per year
Seniors 20 hours per year
Total 65 hours

3. SAT / ACT Requirement for Graduation

All seniors are encouraged to have SAT or ACT scores reported to the College Counseling Office by December of their senior year in order to graduate from St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

You can stay connected to your school through a variety of ways:

1. Complete the Alumni News Form to help keep you connected to the school and to your classmates. Keep us updated with any change of address and let us know what’s going on in your life.
2. Read the periodic school mailings, such as the semi-annual Alumni publication “The Guardian,” as well as the quarterly Development Office publication “Protector and Provider.” These newsletters can help you facilitate staying in touch with old friends, getting the latest alumni news, and knowing about events of interest on campus.
3. Visit the website often to catch the news, recent happenings, and sports updates of St. Joseph’s Catholic School and its students.
4. Stay in touch with your Class Representative to help them maintain a strong relationship between the school and the alumni.
5. Attend regular alumni events such as, but not limited to, Homecoming each October, the annual Christmas-time Alumni Social, and Graduation in May.
6. Come back to any St. Joseph’s home sporting event and/or Fine Arts production free of charge. Simply present your Alumni Card at the door to any home sporting event. Limited alumni seating is available at any Fine Arts performance, but advance reservations are required. More details can be found on the back of your Alumni Card.
7. Volunteer at the school. We encourage alumni to come back to speak to our student body and/or to prospective students and their families at the Annual Admissions Open House. We also need your assistance from time to time to help with regular alumni mailings and phone-a-thons, or in other ways that enables you to “give back” to a school that gave you so much. You will be welcomed and often encouraged to join in and try-out for many of the co-curricular activities listed here. The school boasts more than fifty academic clubs, athletic teams, enrichment activities, and leadership organizations. While the number of students at St. Joseph’s may be relatively small, the possibilities are enormous. And with such a wide range of opportunities, the same student who plays varsity soccer can also be involved in the school play, Student Council, and the National Honor Society …all at once. These opportunities will help to enrich your learning experience, to develop you as a leader, and to allow you to experience the sense of community found here at St. Joseph’s Catholic School.

Interwoven throughout all of student life is the school’s Honor Code. The Honor Code is a special honor given to each student at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, due to their desire to be part of the school family and to be concerned for its well-being. By means of the Honor Code, St. Joseph’s students practice moral leadership, accept personal responsibility, and develop strong character.
